Gillette to see rapid temp swings accompanied by rain this week

GILLETTE, Wyo. — This week in Gillette will feature a variety of either rainy or not-so rainy days. Rain will be predominately featured in the first half of the week.

That rule does not apply to today, however, as Sunday in Gillette will be rather sunny and warm. The high today will get up to 80 degrees and will come with 14-21 mph winds that could gust up to 31 mph. Tonight will get as low as 47 degrees, also with some noticeably strong winds.

Tomorrow will be rainy, with a 50% chance of showers in the afternoon. Temps will drop significantly compared to the day before, as the high on Monday will be just 54 degrees. Winds will stay in the 11-16 mph range, but will increase to 17-22 mph in the afternoon. Rain showers will continue Monday night, where it could possibly mix with snow showers in the very early hours of Tuesday. No snow accumulation is expected.

Rain and possible snow will carry through into Tuesday morning, but will turn to solely rain by 8 a.m. The high Tuesday will be even lower than Monday, with 44 degrees being the warmest the day will see. In total, Tuesday will see a 60% chance of accumulation.

Wednesday will bounce back up to a high of 62 degrees and will be the ushering in of warmer temps and drier conditions across the board. Thursday will have a high of 72 degrees, but will still offer rain in the evening. Friday and Saturday will both see highs in the 70s. See the detailed forecast below for more information.

  • Tuesday: Rain likely, possibly mixed with snow showers, becoming all rain after 8 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 44. North wind 13-17 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
  • Tuesday Night: A 30% chance of showers before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 37. North wind 6-11 mph becoming south after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.
