GILLETTE, Wyo. — Here is a summary of notable crimes in and around Gillette yesterday, May 1, obtained through law enforcement reports compiled by the Gillette Police Department and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office.  

Furnishing alcohol to minors, May 1, South Douglas Highway, GPD

Officers cited a 21-year-old man for providing alcohol to minors at a South Douglas Highway Hotel around 9:01 a.m., Gillette Deputy Police Chief Brent Wasson said. The officers were reportedly at the hotel when they learned the 21-year-old had purchased alcohol and given it to a 19-year-old man and an 18-year-old man. The remaining alcohol was confiscated.

Kidnapping, May 1, South Douglas Highway, GPD

A 17-year-old girl called officers to a South Douglas Highway hotel after hearing a woman screaming and crying in a second-floor room around 10:19 a.m., Wasson said. According to the report, a 36-year-old man dressed in black was seen exiting the room and getting onto an elevator. He was stopped and detained when officers arrived, allegedly stating he was trying to get his car keys and phone from a 39-year-old woman. The woman told officers the man barricaded the room to stop her from leaving multiple times. She also said the man slapped her face multiple times and kicked her to remove her from the bed. He reportedly threw a silver pocket knife at her, cutting her shirt. Officers arrested the man for kidnapping, battery, property destruction, breach of peace and reckless endangerment.

Breach of peace, May 1, Camel Drive, GPD

Officers responded to a restaurant on Camel Drive around 8:42 p.m. for a report of multiple people fighting, Wasson said. An unidentified man was allegedly upset with his order and berated a 45-year-old woman before leaving in a red vehicle. The investigation is ongoing.

Aggravated assault, May 1, Running W Drive, GPD

A 59-year-old woman called officers to a residence on Running W Drive yesterday night to report an incident involving her 31-year-old daughter and a 44-year-old man, Wasson said. She allowed officers into the residence, where they found the 31-year-old, intoxicated and armed with a knife outside a bedroom door. The 44-year-old was on the other side of the door. The woman put the knife down at the officers’ request and told them she armed herself to force the 44-year-old man out of the residence. She admitted to threatening the man with the knife and swinging it at him. She also claimed to have hit him with her hands. The woman was taken into custody for felony aggravated assault and domestic battery, and was charged with misdemeanor drug possession after officers found a small amount of marijuana.
