
GILLETTE, Wyo. – Here is a summary of notable crimes in and around Gillette yesterday, obtained through law enforcement reports compiled by the Gillette Police Department and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office.
Suspicious activity, April 24, Ariel Avenue, GPD
Officers responded to Ariel Avenue yesterday at 8:52 a.m. to investigate an 18-year-old woman’s suspicious activity report, Deputy Police Chief Brent Wasson said. The woman said that around midnight the previous evening, an unknown man stood outside her front door for some time. The investigation is ongoing.
Crash, April 24, Oregon Avenue, GPD
Officers responded to Oregon Avenue and Trails Circle yesterday at 11:32 a.m. to investigate a two-vehicle crash, Wasson said. A 21-year-old woman operating a 1999 Jeep was struck by a 2014 Honda operated by a 20-year-old woman. According to the report, the 20-year-old woman didn’t see the Jeep and proceeded through the stop sign. The vehicle collided, resulting in over $1,000 in damage. A family member transported the 20-year-old woman for evaluation. She will be cited for improper lookout.
Theft, April 24, Edwards Street, GPD
City parks employees called officers to Dalbey Memorial Park after they found two brass placards missing around 1:16 p.m., Wasson said. The placards were valued at $500, and it is not known when they were taken. The investigation is ongoing.
Theft, April 24, Warlow Drive, GPD
Officers responded to Burlington Lake on Warlow Drive yesterday at 1:32 p.m. to investigate a reported theft, Wasson said. An unknown suspect reportedly stole a brass placard valued at $250. The incident may be related to the Dalbey Memorial Park incident, and the investigation is ongoing.
Interference, April 24, N. Gurley Avenue, GPD
Two 15-year-old girls were arrested for interference after they allegedly fled from officers investigating reports of them running away from the YES House around 2:19 p.m., Wasson said. The girls were located near Gabriel Drie and refused to stop for officers. They were taken into custody, charged with interference, and transported to the Juvenile Detention Center.
DWUI, April 24, Shoshone Avenue, GPD
A 43-year-old man was arrested for impaired driving at a discount store on Shoshone Avenue after officers located him in connection with a call on Dogwood Avenue around 10:01 p.m., Wasson said. While officers were responding to the Dogwood Avenue call, the man reportedly left in a 2005 Dodge pickup that officers found on Shoshone Avenue. He displayed signs of impairment and stated he had consumed too many drinks to drive. The man was taken into custody for DWUI.
DWUI, April 25, Highway 14-16, GPD
Officers responded to a possible rolling domestic violence incident involving a white truck parked at a bar on Highway 14-16 around 1:13 a.m., Wasson said. A 39-year-old woman reportedly drove the vehicle to a nearby fueling station, where officers found her. No one else was in the vehicle; however, the woman was ultimately arrested for DWUI after officers had her perform field sobriety tests.
