Warm and breezy weekend coming to Gillette area – County 17

Posted inLatest News

GILLETTE, Wyo. — Before a nicer weekend arrives, Gillette will have to trudge through another day of somewhat chilly weather. Even when warmer temps arrive, however, strong winds will persist in the area for multiple days.

Today will be cloudy and see a high near 47 degrees. Winds will start calmer, around 7-12 mph in the morning, but will increase to 13-18 mph in the afternoon. The occasional gust could reach as fast as 29 mph. Tonight could see even higher winds, as breezes will increase to 18-24 mph and could occasionally gust at 37 mph.

While stronger winds won’t magically disappear before tomorrow, warmer temps might almost make it feel as if they have. Clouds will clear tomorrow morning, revealing a sunny, 72-degree day. Winds will average around 14-23 mph, but could peak at 37 mph.

Sunday will, according to the National Weather Service station in Rapid City, South Dakota, be even warmer than tomorrow and feature calmer winds. The high Sunday should be up to 75 degrees and will come with 10-15 mph winds. Winds could, of course, peak higher at 23 mph.

Rain will reappear on Gillette’s forecast Sunday night and won’t leave until around Wednesday. In that time, occasional thunderstorms and the occasional mixing of rain and snow are possible. See the detailed forecast below for more information.
