GILLETTE, Wyo. — The Wyoming Transportation Commission awarded a $1.12 million contract to Gillette-based S & S Builders LLC for a bridge rehabilitation project in Albany County.

The project involves structure work, traffic control and asphalt paving at various locations, with a completion date set for June 30, 2026.

This award was part of almost $22.82 million in highway contracts the Transportation Commission approved during its regular business meeting this month, according to a WYDOT news release. The funding for these nine projects comes primarily from federal dollars.

In addition to the Albany County project, S & S Builders also received a $725,000 contract for a culvert extension project on U.S. Highway 87/Wyoming Highway 196 south of Buffalo in Johnson County. This work includes grading, structure work, traffic control, fencing and seeding/erosion control, with a completion date of Oct. 31, 2025.

The Gillette company was also awarded a $232,222 contract for structure work and traffic control on the Whitaker Road bridge over Interstate 25 in Laramie County, with an expected completion date of Aug. 31, 2025.

Other contracts awarded by the commission include:

  • An almost $6.64 million bid to Montana-based Riverside Contracting Inc. for paving work on Wyoming Highway 387 in Natrona County.
  • A $5.26 million bid to Kilgore Companies LLC, doing business as Lewis & Lewis Inc. of Rock Springs, for pavement rehabilitation on Wyoming Highway 376 in Sweetwater County.
  • A $3.51 million bid to JTL Group Inc., doing business as Knife River of Cheyenne, for paving work on U.S. Highway 30/287 in Carbon County.
  • A $2.24 million bid to Afton-based Avail Valley Construction-WY LLC for paving work on Wyoming Highway 352 in Sublette County.
  • A $1.58 million bid to Afton-based K’s Construction Inc. for guardrail upgrades in Fremont, Hot Springs and Park Counties.
  • A $1.50 million bid to Utah-based Whitaker Construction Co. Inc. for pipelining work in Carbon County.

The commission typically awards contracts to the lowest bidder, it said.
