
GILLETTE, Wyo. – Here is a summary of notable crimes in and around Gillette yesterday, obtained through law enforcement reports compiled by the Gillette Police Department and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office.
Drugs, April 23, Echeta Road, GPD
Officers arrested a 51-year-old woman for drug possession after responding to an Echeta Road residence with the Wyoming Department of Family Services for a home visit around 10:35 a.m., Gillette Deputy Police Chief Brent Wasson said. While officers and DFS were at the residence, a 35-year-old woman admitted to recent drug use after providing a urine sample that tested positive for drugs. The 51-year-old woman consented to a search, during which officers located oxycontin and tramadol that she didn’t have a prescription for as well as methamphetamine paraphernalia. The 51-year-old woman was arrested for three counts of drug possession and a child was placed with a family member.
Hit-and-run, April 23, Blacktooth Avenue, GPD
A 46-year-old man called the police to Blacktooth Avenue around 1:22 p.m. yesterday to report a 2024 Ford F-350 belonging to Komatsu was reportedly struck sometime between April 14 and 23, Wasson said. The damage was estimated at over $1,000, and the investigation is ongoing.
Aggravated assault, April 23, Baywood Street, GPD
Officers arrested a 38-year-old woman for felony aggravated assault after she reportedly threatened a 38-year-old man with a knife during an argument on Baywood Street around 9:42 p.m., Wasson said. According to the report, the man told officers he managed to take the knife away and that she pulled a second knife on him. Both of them were intoxicated and had injuries, but they couldn’t say how they got them. Officers ultimately took the woman into custody for aggravated assault.
Drugs, April 23, 2nd Street, GPD
Officers cited an 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl for possessing marijuana following a traffic stop on a 2016 Jeep near Burma Avenue and 2nd Street around 10:33 p.m., Wasson said. During a probable cause search, officers reportedly located five grams of suspected marijuana, multiple hemp wraps, and nicotine vaping devices. The 28-year-old man was also cited for drug use.
DWUI, April 24, Highway 14-16, GPD
A 41-year-old man was arrested for impaired driving after officers stopped him for turning into oncoming traffic at Echeta Road and Highway 14-16 this morning around 2:05 a.m., Wasson said. The man was operating a Ford pickup with temporary registration and smelled of alcohol. Officers requested he perform field sobriety tests and arrested him for DWUI based on his performance.
Drugs, April 24, Gillette, GPD
Officers arrested a 31-year-old man for felony drug possession after he was reported for parking a black GMC pickup at a fuel pump for an abnormal amount of time around 2:09 a.m. this morning, according to Wasson. The man was found in the driver’s seat and was sweating profusely. He gave consent for a search and officers located a syringe loaded with two-tenths of a gram of suspected liquid methamphetamine. A drug recognition expert was called to the scene while the man performed field sobriety tests. According to the report, the man admit to having more drugs on him and officers seized nine grams of crystal meth from his sweatshirt pocket. He was charged with a felony count of drug possession, a misdemeanor count of drug possession, and DWUI.
