GILLETTE, Wyo. — A man has been charged with attempted murder for allegedly shooting another man during a Friday night altercation on Stanley Avenue, according to Gillette Deputy Police Chief Brent Wasson.
Gillette police officers were alerted to the shooting at 11:45 p.m. April 18 through a third-party report regarding a 23-year-old man who was en route to Campbell County Health with a single gunshot wound to his abdomen, Wasson said.
Officers intercepted the vehicle at 7th Street and Highway 59, where they rendered aid until Emergency Medical Services arrived to transport the man to the hospital.
According to the report, officers then responded to the 1000 Block of Stanley Avenue, where they contacted a 22-year-old man reportedly involved in a confrontation with the 23-year-old, Wasson said.
The man said he confronted the 23-year-old in the parking lot, sparking an altercation in which he fired a single round at the 23-year-old, Wasson said, adding that officers arrested the man on recommended charges consisting of attempted second-degree murder.
