GILLETTE, Wyo. — On Tuesday, the Campbell County Board of Commissioners proclaimed May 1 as National Day of Prayer.

The proclamation, presented by Pastor Marty Crump of the Gillette Pastors Association, carries the theme “Pour out to the God of hope and be filled,” based on Romans 15:13.

Crump requested that one or two representatives from the board attend and read the proclamation at the local National Day of Prayer event scheduled for noon at Lasting Legacy Park.

Commissioner Jerry Means initiated the reading of the proclamation, which acknowledges the role of prayer in the nation’s history and calls upon citizens to unite in prayer for the country and its leaders.

In other business, the commissioners recognized Marcy Mathis of the Campbell County Public Library for 10 years of dedicated service to the county. Mathis is the library’s youth services coordinator.

The proclamation and recognition documents are attached below.
