Thousands of 2023 Burning Man Attendees Stranded After Gates Closed Due to Heavy Rains, Flooding in Nevada

The 2023 Burning Man event closed its entrance and exit gates due to the heavy rains and flooding in Nevada. Further reports say around 73,000 attendees have been stranded and advised to conserve food, water, and fuel as driving off the Black Rock Desert is almost impossible.

The 2023 Burning Man event has closed its entrance and exit gates due to the heavy rains and flooding that made driving off in its location, the Black Rock Desert in Nevada, almost impossible. Further reports say around 73,000 2023 Burning Man attendees were also advised to conserve their food, water, and fuel after being stranded.

According to Mayorquin, on September 2, the Bureau of Land Management officially announced about the shutdown of the 2023 Burning Man event. Reportedly, the heavy rains and flooding resulted in a need to have a full stop of vehicle movement in the desert. Furthermore, continuous rain is expected in the following days which will not improve the condition to allow inbound vehicles.

2023 Burning Man Reopening

According to Hughes, the 2023 Burning Man is officially scheduled to end on September 4, but several attendees have already begun leaving last September 2 and 3. Nonetheless, officials stated that there is no estimated date for when the 2023 Burning Man event will reopen which will likely leave thousands of attendees with missed flights, failure to return to rental cars, and failure to be able to return to work for September 5.
