Sen. Feinstein’s Health

California Senator Dianne Feinstein has faced more issues with her health than were previously known.

Sen. Feinstein’s health has faced complications during her recovery from shingles, her complications include swelling of the brain, encephalitis, and a condition known as Ramsay Hunt Syndrome.

The New York Times reported the health issue last Thursday and said that the senator previously disclosed that she had several complications.

According to the Mayo Clinic, encephalitis can cause seizures, changes in personality, vision or hearing, and memory loss. While Ramsay Hunt Syndrome occurs when shingles affect the facial nerve near the ears. It can cause hearing loss and facial paralysis.

The Democratic Senator returned to the Senate last week, for the first time since February.

In a statement released at that time, the Senator had made significant progress but was still experiencing side effects from shingles.

Sen. Feinstein’s Health Issues

Feinstein has denied that she had been absent. When she was asked whether she had been working from home or not, she answered, “No, I’ve been here. I’ve been voting.”

During Feinstein’s absence due to health issues, the Senator faced calls to resign from some Democrats who said she was impeding their ability to move legislation and judicial nominees, but the Senator ignored all the concerns.

The Senator decided earlier this year that she would not run in the 2024 election.
