By then, Acker was left with her two daughters, a granddaughter, a great-granddaughter, and two stepchildren.

Thereafter, she played the role of Anne Page in “The Merry Wives of Windsor” after joining the Stratford Shakespeare Festival Company. Acker then had actor William Shatner as a co-star who was also cast in “Star Trek” in the future.
Eventually, The New Perry Mason actress traveled to Europe with the Stratford company where she played in “Henry V”. In 1957, Acker made her big screen debut in “Lucky Jim”.
