2023 Tax Refunds for Audi Owners

According to Blake, an owner of an Audi is eligible to receive up to $5,350. This is because the company allegedly suffered a data breach where their customers’ personal information were stolen. Therefore, the automotive manufacturer agreed to reimburse their customers from a $3.5 million budget.

To be eligible for the 2023 tax refunds, a recipient must have received a notice from Audi or Volkswagen about their personal information being exposed in the data breach that happened between 2019 and 2021. Reportedly, there are three groups of eligibility and the amount of payments the customers will receive is based on the group they belong to.

First, the nationwide personal information (PI) is for those whose personal information were exposed in the data breach. These individuals could receive $20. Second, the nationwide sensitive personal information (SPI) is for those whose sensitive personal information were exposed in the data breach. These individuals could receive $80. Lastly, the California SPI is for the residents of California whose sensitive personal information were exposed in the data breach. These individuals could receive $350.

Furthermore, eligible recipients from California can also claim up to $5,000 for identity theft, fraud, credit expenses, and communication charges. They may also claim $50 per hour for the unpaid time off work for up to four hours. This means that these individuals could receive 2023 tax refunds up to $5,350 but must file a valid claim by April 12.
