According to Candelera, the first thing a taxpayer should learn is how the IRS contacts them when it is required to do so. Most of the time, the IRS will send a notice or letter through the mail. Nonetheless, there are times when the agency will call or even visit the taxpayer. When this happens, the IRS will send a revenue officer or agent to the business establishment or house of the taxpayer. The main reason for these visits is because of unpaid taxes or audits.
In addition, the IRS also does not send text messages to taxpayers for tax bills or tax refunds.
