Over 25,000 residents of Chicago will be receiving one-time payments from the state’s Resiliency Fund program. The Chicago Resiliency Fund 2.0 is intended to help the residents who struggle with the rising costs of living. Eligible residents will receive the stimulus payments the federal government has approved in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The funding of this program will come from a $14.68 million budget.

According to Heartland Alliance, an anti-poverty organization, recipients of the payments will be chosen randomly via a lottery. The payments will be received via direct deposit or a debit card. Debit cards are expected to be received by December 2023 at the latest. However, only a few hours are left for Chicago residents to submit the needed forms online. The deadline for submission will be on December 31 at exactly 5:00 p.m. The application process may take up to 30 minutes to finish.

Who is eligible for these one-time payments?

According to Bradford, to be eligible for the one-time payment, applicants must currently be living in Chicago. They must also be older than 18 and have an income equal to or less than 300% of the Federal Poverty Line. For a household with three people, the income limitation is $69,090. Domestic workers and undocumented residents are also eligible for the payments. Only one person in each household can submit an application.
