A 73-year-old man in Mohave County, Arizona, has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder after allegedly shooting and killing his 74-year-old roommate, according to the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident occurred on December 14th at a home on the 3100 block of McConnico Road.

After receiving a report of a potential homicide at the residence of the individuals, the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office promptly responded to the scene. Upon arriving and conducting an investigation, they discovered that the individual, Everett Yates, was no longer alive, according to the department’s news release on December 16, 2022.

It was determined that the two roommates had gotten into an argument the previous day over a damaged microwave, according to the authorities who were investigating the incident.

During interviews, the accused, Robert Hoenshell Jr., made statements indicating that he shot his roommate, Everett Yates, while he was sleeping.

At this time, the investigation into the alleged incident is still ongoing, and authorities are working to determine the full extent of what happened. However, it is currently believed that the shooting may have been motivated by an argument that took place over a damaged microwave.
