Breaking Down Barriers: Colorado’s E-Bike Tax Credit Aims to Make Electric Bicycles More Affordable

The e-bike tax credit proposal aims to make electric bicycles more accessible and inexpensive to Colorado residents. With e-bikes ranging in price from $600 to $8,000, and the majority of models priced between $1,000 and $4,000, the $450 tax credit is expected to drastically cut the financial barrier to entry. According to the Colorado Public Interest Research Group (CoPIRG), participating businesses will apply the tax credit at the point of sale, allowing customers to benefit from instant savings without the need for a separate application procedure. This tax credit will be accessible from April 1, 2024 to December 31, 2032, with the goal of encouraging the widespread adoption of e-bikes as a sustainable method of transportation throughout the state.
