The state of Alabama will start sending up to $300 in one-time tax rebates to qualified taxpayers beginning December 1, 2023.
Up To $300 in One-Time Taxpayers
Alabama Governor Kay Ivey announced that beginning December 1, 2023 an amount of $150 will be sent to single and individual taxpayers, while $300 will be sent to married couples filing jointly. This is a one-time tax rebate that the state governor announced on November 1.
In a published article in The Greenville Advocate, Gov. Ivey said, “This is the people’s money, and it’s only right, while acknowledging we are recording revenues far exceeding normal and sustainable levels, we give a fair share of this money directly back to the people of Alabama.”
Gov. Ivey Released a Statement
According to a published article in AL ALABAMA, Gov. Ivey said, “From the very beginning, it has been my belief that it is the responsibility of government to be good stewards of taxpayer dollars while actively looking for ways to support citizens through tough times.”
Furthermore, only the taxpayers who filed a 2021 individual tax return and received it by ALDOR on or before October 17, 2022 will qualify for one-time tax rebates. Meanwhile, non-residents, estates or trusts, or anyone who was claimed as a dependent during the 2021 tax year will not qualify.
