Stimulus Payments

Stimulus Payments

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the U.S. government decided to provide stimulus payments to every U.S. state to help the citizens and the businesses survive. Although it is against several political principles in the U.S. to provide for such an extensive financial assistance, the pandemic called for a special exemption. Several states have already ended their distributions of stimulus payments. However, there are some that will still be issuing payments this 2023, as reported by MARCA.

California

According to MARCA, in California, around 5% of their inflation relief checks worth up to $1,025 will not be issued until January 15. Tax rebates starting at $350 based on the status of filing, income, and size of household are also not issued yet.

Colorado

In Colorado, taxpayers who have filed their 2021 tax returns by October 17, 2022 will have to wait for their tax rebates to be issued on or before January 31. These tax rebates are worth $750 for individual filers and $1,500 for joint filers.

Idaho

In Idaho, 2022 Special Session rebates were approved and will be issued by the end of March 2023. The amount of tax rebates is 10% of a taxpayer’s 2020 income tax liability or $300 for individual filers and $600 for joint filers, whichever is larger.

New Jersey

In New Jersey, renters will receive $450 as long as they do not make an income of over $150,000. These payments should be received before May 2023.

Pennsylvania

In Pennsylvania, stimulus payments were already issued to old homeowners, renters, and those with disabilities. The deadline for filing ended last December 31. Therefore, those who have filed late will not be receiving payments until this 2023. The standard rebate is up to $650, but those who are eligible for supplemental rebates may receive up to $975.

South Carolina

Like Colorado, in South Carolina, taxpayers who have filed their tax returns after October 17 but before February 15 this year will receive payments of up to $800 in March 2023.

New Mexico

In New Mexico, residents have until May 2023 to file a 2021 income tax return. This means that the tax rebates may arrive in late 2023 for some New Mexico residents.

Illinois

In Illinois, there are two possible payments: the income tax rebate and the property tax rebate. The income tax rebate is worth $50 to $100 for joint filers. However, it will only be received by residents whose 2021 adjusted gross income is no more than $200,000 for individual filers and no more than $400,000 for joint filers.
